How to watch the Most important VR event : HTC’s ViveCon
ViveCon is billed as “the most important VR event of the year” by HTC. ViveCon, like other previous events and announcements in the wake of the global epidemic, will be a virtual rather than an in-person gathering. If you’re interested in attending, you can sign up for a free spot on HTC’s special portal, which has had over 44,000 registrations so far.
HTC wants to close its free registration once ViveCon begins on May 11th, so those interested should register immediately.
Two days will be dedicated to the virtual reality conference. The keynote address, which is likely to be the most important event for most attendees, will begin at 9 a.m. 12 p.m. PT Today is 2:00 p.m. ET. During its keynote talks, HTC is widely expected to reveal at least two new enterprise-focused virtual reality headsets. The keynote will be livestreamed, and guests should look for a link to the stream on the HTC webpage. A link to the livestream is also provided above.
If you can’t see the ViveCon keynote, be sure to keep an eye on Digital Trends for all the latest HTC news and announcements.
Developers should plan on attending the second day of ViveCon on May 12, when the firm will provide virtual reality sessions and panels. HTC has speakers dedicated to remote work via virtual reality, which is a hot topic considering that the pandemic has caused many businesses to adopt a work-from-home policy, as well as health-care-related themes.
ViveCon: What to Expect
At ViveCon, HTC is widely expected to unveil two new virtual reality headsets for business use. HTC could use ViveCon to unveil the HTC Vive Pro 2, a follow-up to the original HTC Vive Pro, as well as the Vive Focus 3 Business Edition.
While the HTC Vive Pro 2 is likely to be a PC-based virtual reality experience, the HTC Vive Focus 3 Business Edition is believed to be a standalone solution that does not require the wearer to be linked to a computer.
The trailer for these headsets promises that they would be “game-changing,” so it will be interesting to see what features and specifications are revealed. HTC had teased a ViveAir headset with a sportier design and a lightweight, breathable knit fabric cover prior to ViveCon, and advertising materials showed a lady using the headset while lifting weights.
If adopted for consumer use, the headgear may include training films and guided workouts, although HTC has stated that it has no plans to commercialize the Vive Air. Rather, the Vive Air is a concept headset, with the company claiming that components of the design would be included into future models.
According to UploadVR, a leaked listing from Alzashop for both headsets says that the Vive Pro 2 will cost $1,012, while the Vive Focus 3 Business Edition will cost $1,770.
